I traveled to Cameroon to compete in the Tour du Cameroun, a multi-stage professional road cycling race.
But on the eve of Stage One, I got sick. I started the race but I wasn't able to finish. What followed was a week of not racing, but of observing and learning to surrender control. "Stage One" is a personal story about ambition, failure and the unexpected gift of slowing down. A letter to Cameroon, to the race I couldn’t ride and the freedom of going off-script.
